Narmeen is an enthusiastic, dedicated and talented student, excelling in all areas of the academic curriculum. Narmeen is a Palestinian refugee who has a real appreciation for all forms of art and has been participating in the START Programme in Al Hussain Camp since its inception. Narmeen's aspiration is to become a leading architect and change the skyline of Jordan.


The START Scholarship has given Narmeen the opportunity to attend Jordan University to study a B/A Architecture for 5 years. During this time, she will volunteer in START workshops, mentor younger students and teach the skills she is learning at university. Narmeen has become a role model for other students in Al Hussian Camp, her family, teachers and the START team are very proud of the achievements she has made so far and are excited to have Narmeen as a START Scholarship winner.

Rebecca Hayday, UAE Scholarship Winner – Supported by Van Cleef and Arpels and Relbell Properties Ltd

Rebecca is a passionate, hardworking and dedicated to learning and practicing art.  Despite suffering from Global Development Delay with Autism tendencies, Rebecca’s commitment and passion for art has shown through. Rebecca describes herself as shy and is very excited to use this opportunity to work on building her confidence, learn and interact with the artistic community in Dubai on a daily basis. Rebecca’s gentle, kind nature and her desire to excel in the arts made her a commendable candidate for the START Scholarship.


Throughout the next year, Rebecca will participate in the START Scholarship, a year-long programme, tailored and organized by the START Team who arrange internships at art organizations across Dubai, mentorships with artists and the opportunity to go to Jordan to participate as a volunteer in our workshops with refugee and orphaned children.

Noamaan Taher Ahmed, Dubai Autism Center – START Scholarship Winner – Supported by Audi Middle East

START is very pleased to announce that we are financially supporting a student to go to Dubai Autism Center. Dubai Autism Center is a non-profit organization that specializes in supporting the children of the UAE with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. We are glad to be able to offer a student the opportunity to receive specialist guidance and education as part of our efforts to support children with special needs. 

Noamaan will be offered education, tailor-made by specialists for his individual needs, including speech and language therapy, movement therapy and occupational therapy.  This is an exciting opportunity for Noamaan to receive the support, education and interaction with others that he has not yet be able to obtain.

Noamaan suffers from Autism, despite this, he is bright, happy young boy who is excited about attending Dubai Autism Center. He is looking forward to developing his social interaction skills, make new friends and developing relationships with his teachers. Noamaan is a budding artist who uses art as a form of communication and self expression. Noamaan is a deserving candidate and START are honoured to offer this scholarship to him and his family.
